We have been talking for years about the need to address an energy transition. Concepts such as “neutrality”, “sustainability”, and “zero emissions” have had a boom period, yet have we stopped to think about how to approach that change? Where should we start? or What are the implications?
Both personally and from my position as Founder and CEO of Nakasawa Resources, I am fully committed to innovation and research in the energy sector, and agree that a transition and change to a more responsible model is necessary to address complex global challenges such as climate change. However, I also believe that this must be done in an orderly, safe and secure manner that ensures security of supply for all.
That is why, when we talk about imagining the Energy Mix of the future, I like to approach it from a neutral and balanced concept. It is a reality that fossil fuel energy still accounts for 80% of the productive energy supply of the entire planet. So, while the development of other types of sustainable energy must remain a priority, so must pushing the oil industry towards a greener model. Thus #GreenFossilEnergy was born: the effort to optimize the processes of the Oil and Gas sector to contribute towards a more sustainable world.
The transformation of the industry is not a process to be faced by energy companies alone. It is a commitment of all, which requires changes in the behavior of society and whose impact on processes, supplies and the economy must be controlled. This new energy paradigm implies a radical change in the production chains during the next decades and requires large and constant investments.
As we move forward in this process, whose research and implementation must not stop, we must find new ways to be more responsible. From Nakasawa, we believe in optimizing the efficiency of fossil fuel extraction processes, so that the performance of these wells is increased and we reduce the generation of new ones, we believe in #GreenFossilEnergy.
