In recent years, human capital has become an essential aspect within organizations due to the skills, knowledge and experience that workers possess to promote business growth, as well as the accomplishment of the established objectives by the company.

In this context, the oil industry is characterized by its constant technological and productive advances, so it is necessary to have a trained team that knows how to adapt to different scenarios to take advantage of opportunities and thrive in the future of the energy landscape. For this reason, knowing the competencies of a worker, allows identifying what the person knows can do and how to perform their functions to optimize and enhance the fulfillment of the goals set.

Most in-demand skills:

Our sector is constantly innovating and has new elements for the optimization of its operational processes. These new trends require a new demand for profiles and skills training for new talents for the future of the industry.

I would like to share the three main and most demanded skills that I consider necessary to strengthen the professional and comprehensive training of human talent:

  • Technological adaptation:  Due to the constant evolution of our industry, being open to new tools is essential. For example, artificial intelligence (AI) is a trend that is dominating the oil sector; therefore, a professional with experience in the subject will be able to make operational improvements based on machine learning and develop new processes for the sector.
  • Integral professional: Knowing how daily tasks work, independently of the tasks that correspond to your function, will define a committed collaborator who is willing to give his or her best potential. This aspect will allow you to manage processes effectively, knowing part of the cycle and functions that each area performs.
  • Skills and creativity: it is important to have experience and training in the STEAM system (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to expand solutions to situations that may arise in the field and other areas. Also, to have studies related to sustainability and environmental care.

To conclude, the transformation that the oil industry is undergoing demands highly trained professionals, with the ability to work in teams and tolerance, as well as the management of technical and personal tools that allow them to overcome the challenges of the sector.
