In recent years, technological advances in the oil sector have contributed to optimizing processes such as extraction, and have boosted its growth. However, there is one factor that we cannot forget and leave behind: the human capital behind the handling of such technological equipment and the management of industrial processes.  For this reason, investment in human capital is fundamental for the industry to keep pace, continue using advanced technologies and remain productive and competitive.

In this sense, he highlighted a very interesting fact that may go unnoticed. Did you know that oil companies are positioned as one of the companies that generate the most direct and indirect jobs? A perfect example of this is the case of the Argentinean oil industry, which produces more than 390 thousand job opportunities.

Now, finding the right personnel is often a complicated task, as many tend to stay with technical skills and leave aside the development of soft skills for their function, which hinders the development of some operations in the industry.

So I took the opportunity to share four elements that I believe are key to strengthening human talent:

  • Providing learning opportunities: Generate training spaces according to market demand, providing lifelong learning tools and using the improvement of professional skills to drive innovation and future growth. For this reason, having more learning opportunities will boost labor productivity, as well as the feeling of loyalty toward the company.
  • Generate talent attraction: The new generations have a vision aligned to innovation and technology that allows them to contribute to the vanguard of new tools that companies can adopt. In other words, having a broader perspective will help strengthen the competitive potential and leverage the power of your company.
  • Create a climate of diversity: To equip itself with competent workers, the industry also needs to broaden its horizons. According to a study by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), women represent 22% of the workforce in oil companies worldwide. Therefore, it is crucial to create job opportunities for women, especially at senior levels.
  • Promote a safety culture; Prioritize industry-specific safety requirements, such as risk assessment and risk management.

In conclusion, the need to have a team of professionals with a wide range of professional skills, both technical and social, will enable business success.  Therefore, from my position as president and founder of Nakasawa Resources, I reaffirm my commitment to meeting the demands of the market, through a human, skilled, and efficient team that leads the management of technologies and upstream processes.
