Each year, on February 20th, we celebrate World Day of Social Justice, a time to reflect on the defense and promotion of fundamental principles such as gender equality, full employment, and access to social welfare for all. It is a day that calls for closing inequality gaps to achieve social justice.

But what is social justice? It is a concept that must remain intact in our model of social coexistence, but at the same time, it must evolve to adapt its conception to the reality in which we live. Nowadays, for example, the world has changed drastically from what it used to be. We no longer inhabit a desolated world with few human beings. We live in the “Anthropocene era,” a world full of abundance where human activity is changing our way of life and our interaction with the environment.

Developing sustainable prosperity requires improving welfare and social equity, reducing negative environmental ravages and ecological deprivation. However, to achieve this vision, we need an economy that respects world limitations and pursues the democratization of a minimum “welfare state” for all citizens of the world. We need a model that strengthens the stable and healthy relationship between human beings and their social relations and justice.

On a personal level, I try to contribute by focusing my efforts on developing my community and on providing young people with access to comprehensive education so that they can aspire to a better future.

I also contribute through the support and sponsorship of Club Deportivo El Hatillo (El Hatillo Sports Club) in Caracas, Venezuela. I have always believed that sport promotes the inclusion of diverse cultures and favors the growth of children and young people, and I consider it essential for the design of a fair and tolerant society.

At Nakasawa, we are always working to provide workplaces that create and maintain the needed conditions to ensure coexistence, human dignity, and social justice. On this day, we renew our commitment to strive to create a fulfilling and dignified work community, where gender equality, opportunities, and social wellbeing are accessible to all.

Let us remember that for a prosperous and equitable future for our planet, we must create and put in place a vision of society and progress based on the dignity of individuals. Only by this, we can all achieve holistic economic, social, and cultural efficiency in this new cycle of social justice.
