The past few months have certainly been difficult for all of us, and we have had to adapt to a new lifestyle and work dynamic. We should point out that the new normal comes along with lots of challenges, and it is necessary to know how to overcome them as an individual, team, and company. However, to strategically solve these problems, it is essential to identify their root together in cooperation with your team.

For example, teleworking is one of the most common challenges companies are facing today. Have you wondered why this is a challenge? Companies are becoming more and more digital nowadays. We already live in an ultra-digital world. Then, could it be that the problem was always there but was not addressed in time, and telework has only intensified it?

This is what an article I recently read on El Periódico states, sharing tips for working with remote employees and measures to maintain your staff. It also highlights the importance of:

  • Strengthen the purpose of your organization. I agree. In Nakasawa, we are efficiency-driven, and we carry it in our DNA. We believe it is the key to maintaining the development of oil and gas production to meet the world’s growing energy needs.
  • Having frequent conversations. Being transparent with your team is essential as it allows everyone in the organization to understand why changes are occurring in the company. This practice will most likely increase staff involvement in solving problems and even increase their commitment to the organization.
  • Identifying your team’s dysfunctions.
  • Last but not least, keep an eye on your employees by monitoring their exhaustion levels, as employee exhaustion happens often. In a hyperconnected world, sometimes it becomes more complicated to disconnect, and even more so during the COVID-19 emergency, and that is when the professional “burnout” begins. Identify those employees and define solutions to prevent them from entering a state of exhaustion.

These are some of the challenges that may have intensified during the pandemic. Nevertheless, it is important to note that returning to the office or workplace may not necessarily be the solution to these challenges. It is very likely that the problem already existed in the organization and would have continued if not addressed in time.

This year has been extremely complicated and has definitely turned us into a more resilient and robust company. In Nakasawa, we promote the exchange of ideas among employees, and we understand the importance of staff participation in the company’s decision-making process. Our goal is to continue leading the production of upstream technology for the oil sector, and we can only achieve this by working altogether and considering the team’s needs to support each other throughout the process.
